Be transparent about eligibility and availability

After the time and effort prospective participants and site staff have taken to discuss the study, build a relationship, and proceed through screening, there is still a significant gap that needs to be addressed.

Almost 9 in 10 site staff say slot allocation for clinical trials is unclear. This means some otherwise eligible participants may lose out on the chance to take part.

This is clearly not only frustrating for site teams, but also disappointing for participants, potentially leading to mistrust and disengagement too.

What sponsors can do:

Commit to greater slot management support, like dashboards, databases, or traffic light systems, so site teams have complete visibility of current and projected slot availability for the study.

What site teams can do:

Where appropriate, discuss slot availability transparently with patients, alongside eligibility and other enrolment factors, so patients have as clear a picture as possible about why they may not be invited to take part.
